Supporting Grymes

There are several different means of making valuable contributions to Grymes Memorial School. Every gift counts, and is greatly appreciated.  Choosing the best way for you may be based on your financial situation, tax laws and financial plans.  Grymes' fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30, and contributions will be acknowledged at the end of the year in which they are given.

Credit Card

Since online giving to Grymes became available, more individuals are using this easy method to make a gift.  You may contact the Development Office at (540) 672-0946 or visit  /support/onlinegiving.aspx to make your gift.  You may also  contact the Development Office to schedule a monthly gift ($10 minimum).  This method entitles the donor to an income tax deduction within the year the gift is made, and has the added benefit of earning you points with your credit card rewards program.

Cash or Check

Over half of the donations made to Grymes Memorial School are contributions via cash or check. A gift in the form of cash or check entitles the donor to an income tax deduction within the year the gift is made.  You may mail your contribution to:

Securities

Appreciated securities may be the best form of assets to consider when making a charitable gift. In most cases, an outright gift of appreciated securities entitles the donor to a tax deduction for the fair market value of the securities.

The Emily Grymes Society

Donors may make a bequest to the school through their estate plan. Bequests may be for a specific amount, a percentage of the donor’s estate or even a residual portion.  The Emily Grymes Society recognizes individuals or families who have notified or made arrangements with Grymes regarding gift plans through a bequest, trust, annuitiy, insurance, or other form of planned giving.

Real Estate and Tangible Assets

Donors may contribute various types of property to the school. Donations of real estate can offer a variety of tax benefits to the donor. Tangible assets including furniture, art or equipment may also benefit the school.

Endowment Gifts

As with the annual appeal, gifts to the endowment may be made in cash or stocks/securities. Many endowment gifts are unrestricted, providing the school with the flexibility to use the interest from the investment as it sees fit. Endowment gifts may also be restricted - directed to specific funds within the endowment that support the school in specific areas. This is also referred to as planned giving.
