Mary Linda McLearen

Kindergarten Assistant

Mary Linda was born and raised in Madison County on the Lamb family farm, Cedar Springs Dairy. After graduating from Madison County High School, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. She graduated with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and received a Virginia Collegiate Professional License, NK-7. Mary Linda began teaching in Madison County in 1974 as a first grade teacher until 2003. From 2003 until her retirement in 2006, she was a transition teacher instructing first and second grade students in reading. During her teaching career in Madison, Mary Linda served as a First Grade Team Leader and a mentor to three beginning first grade teachers, one of which is her current team teacher, Angela Sadler.

Mary Linda enjoys spending time with her family, husband Allan, three grown sons and four wonderful grandchildren. She attends Madison Presbyterian Church and is actively involved with the Christian Education Program. She also enjoys reading, walking and hiking, and working in her flower garden. Mary Linda’s wisdom on teaching is: “Teaching is caring about each student and recognizing the unique gifts of each child; expecting the best from all students; and helping them reach their full potential.”
