Technology Coordinator
Laurie was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and moved to Wild, Wonderful, West Virginia when she was three along with her five older siblings and parents. In the late seventies, she and her family moved to Orange, Virginia where her parents renovated a 100 year old farm house. She has lived on farms her whole life and is a huge animal lover. She has raised horses, dogs, chickens, crows, a skunk, a squirrel and many other animals. How that led her to technology is a good question. She presently lives in southeastern Orange County on a farm with her husband, Tim, who is a beef cattle farmer. She and Tim have two children, Lael and Henry who attended Grymes and are now almost out of the nest. Laurie graduated high school from Mercersburg Academy and attended Hollins University. She began working at Grymes in the early nineties as the kindergarten assistant. She then became part-time kindergarten assistant and PE assistant and later worked in the Grymes library as an aide. That is where her love for technology blossomed and her position became only the second Grymes Technology Director in the history of the school. When Laurie took the position the school had a lab with approximately eight computers that were still running the DOS operating system. Now, Laurie is responsible for maintaining the school’s network, all the faculty and staff computers, as well as the computer lab, laptops, website, and LCD projectors.
