Upper School Science
Anna graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2000 with a B.S., in Agricultural and Applied Economics and a B.S. in Animal and Poultry Sciences. A variety of science courses, which prepared her for a teaching assignment at Grymes, include General Microbiology, General Chemistry, Principles of Biology, Animal Physiology and Anatomy, Physiology of Reproduction, and Animal Breeding and Genetics. Anna has held several management positions which include most recently the manager at Chloe, a retail clothing store on the downtown mall in Charlottesville. In addition, Anna served as a veterinary assistant for Dr. Tim Ober in Gordonsville, managed horses and grounds at Merifields Farm in Keswick, and was a Nutrition Assistant and Management Trainee at Culpeper Farmers Coop. Anna has always loved helping other people. She has worked at summer camps, taught horseback riding, and tutored. Her interest in science and young people led her to seek the position teaching middle school science at Grymes.
Anna and her husband, Philip, have recently built a new house on 21 acres in Louisa County. Her love for animals, evident in her chosen field and work experience, extends further to her own pets -two yellow labs, one Jack Russell, three cats, and two horses. Anna also finds time to serve on the Board of Directors for the Battlefield Horse Show Association, is a member of the Virginia Horse Shows Association, and a member of the Keswick Hunt Club.
