Second Grade
Amy is a resident of Madison County. She grew up in Madison and attended the Madison County Public Schools. Amy graduated summa cum laude with a BA from Mary Washington College in music with elementary education endorsements. In 1995, she received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia. She holds a Commonwealth of Virginia Postgraduate Professional Teaching License in Early Education NK-4. Amy taught first grade at Madison Primary School for twelve years.
After the birth of her second child, she chose to stay at home full time. During those five years she provided childcare in her home to several preschoolers. Amy has been part of the Grymes family since 1999, when her older son Stephen entered kindergarten. Her younger son Matthew is also a Grymes student. Amy chose Grymes for her children and herself because of the small school size, strong academic program, focus on the fine arts and public speaking, community service opportunities and emphasis on good moral character.
