Second Grade
Amy is a resident of Madison County. She grew up in Madison and attended the Madison County Public Schools. Amy graduated summa cum laude with a BA from Mary Washington College in music with elementary education endorsements. In 1995, she received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia. She holds a Commonwealth of Virginia Postgraduate Professional Teaching License in Early Education NK-4.
Amy taught first grade at Madison Primary School for twelve years. After the birth of her second child, she chose to stay at home full time. During those five years she provided childcare in her home to several preschoolers.
Amy has been part of the Grymes Memorial School family since 1999, when her older son Stephen entered kindergarten here. Several years later, her younger son, Matthew began kindergarten at Grymes and Amy was able to resume teaching full time. Amy chose Grymes for her children and herself because of the small school size, strong academic program, focus on the fine arts and public speaking, community service opportunities and emphasis on good moral character.
Amy enjoys serving as organist and children’s choir director at Beth Car Baptist Church. She and her husband Dwayne like to spend time camping with their boys. She takes many pictures of her family and enjoys scrapbooking. Her favorite pastime is cheering for her boys at their sporting events!
