At Grymes we believe that the best education comes from a partnership between the student, parents, teachers, and the school. We are fortunate to have very involved parents.
Moms, Dads and grandparents can always be found volunteering, delivering Food Fest lunches, hosting class parties, chaperoning students on field trips, creating costumes and sets for class plays, shelving books in the library, cheering on the sidelines of the playing fields, and substitute teaching. The GPTA helps parents get involved and stay connected, making Grymes a special place with a family atmosphere.
The mission of the GPTA is to promote and sustain an effective working partnership between parents and the school. To accomplish this, the GPTA provides information on matters of interest to parents and helps to educate parents about issues and how to work most effectively with the school. These goals are achieved through bi-monthly publication of the GPTA newsletter, semi-annual meetings of the association, parent involvement in class activities and social events, special all-school programs, and fundraising events. Membership in the GPTA is open to parents, guardians, and grandparents of current Grymes students, and current faculty, staff and administration.
A majority of parent correspondence is through the Wednesday Update, which is available via email, through our website, and by hard-copy on request. The Update contains school news and upcoming events. GPTA notices may also be attached.
Each fall, one parent from the class is chosen to act as the class’ room parent. This parent works in partnership with the teacher to help with such events as parties, the class play, field trips, special events, and communicating with other parents.
