Library

At Grymes, the library is the heart of the School: an interactive, engaging, and inviting media center that seeks to provide its patrons with the knowledge and skills to succeed in the twenty-first century.

Today, students live in the age of lightning-quick information – technological advances have enabled users to have access to an explosion of information whenever and wherever possible. We have become a global society, and the library is the starting point for making sense in our new world. To this end, the Grymes library fosters intellectual use of knowledge. We want to ensure that students and teachers are effective users of ideas and information. From the weekly trip to the library in kindergaten when children are read to and check out their own books to training on internet research, Grymes students love learning.

The mission of the library is to serve the Grymes community in the following ways: foster a love and appreciation for literature; impart students with the skills needed to search for, evaluate, and use information effectively; present students and teachers with materials to support curriculum goals; provide materials in a variety of formats to support all learning styles; collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy skills with the classroom curriculum; provide equal access to all materials; promote reasoned and independent thinking; cultivate an atmosphere where a desire to learn is appreciated and valued; and encourage life-long learning.
