Director of Communications

Grymes Memorial School seeks a Director of Marketing & Communications to join a busy and productive three-person Advancement Department that oversees all marketing, admissions, fundraising, parent and alumni relations, publications and events for the school. The Director of Marketing & Communications will be responsible for all branding, messaging, publications, media communications and social media content to successfully position the school for admissions and fundraising growth. Responsibilities will include maintaining and producing all print and digital marketing collateral, writing and sharing informative and engaging weekly blog content, producing weekly parent newsletter, producing regular press releases, managing all social media channels, and producing the school’s two annual print publications.

Writing, editing and designing or providing design supervision for a wide variety of print, video, web and other electronic communications/marketing materials are essential to this position. Ideally, the successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a communications or related field and at least 3 years’ experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field. Superb verbal and written communication skills, the ability to take initiative and bring projects to completion on time and on budget with attention to quality, and the ability to interact professionally, proactively and collaboratively with all levels of personnel – from students, to faculty and administration, to parents, trustees and donors – are required. Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress content and web design and basic principles of photography are also key skills.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a communications, marketing or related field
  • At least three years' experience in communications or a related field
  • Superb verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, such as InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom and Illustrator
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Proficient Photography skills
  • Excellent data analysis
  • Experience managing multiple social media channels

Director of Admissions & Development

Grymes Memorial School seeks a Director of Admissions & Development to join a busy and productive three-person Advancement Department that oversees all marketing, admissions, fundraising, parent and alumni relations and events for the school. The Director of Admissions & Development will manage the admissions process from inquiry to enrollment, serving as the central point person for all new and re-enrolling admissions activity, responding to inquiries and questions from prospective families, conducting tours and coordinating student visits, managing applications, applicant paperwork and student files all the way through helping to transition newly enrolled families into the community.

On the Development side, the Director of Admissions & Development will work closely with the Director of Communications to conduct strategic fundraising appeals and to engage donors throughout the Grymes community. This position is responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of both the “Fund for Grymes” annual giving program and the Grymes 2020 Endowment Challenge campaign, and will work closely with the Director of Communications, the Head of School and trustees to set strategic priorities, implement solicitation plans and meet fundraising goals.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and at least three years’ admissions and/or development experience in an independent school setting. Superb people skills, excellent organizational and contact management skills and a friendly, outgoing personality are essential to this outward-facing sales-oriented position.
